Some People Build a Zoo. We built a little island in downtown Melbourne, Australia.

Google has given us all free reign to develop Oceania. We built a nice little island in the middle of Melbourne. Complete with a thatched roof hut, chair and Great White shark guard! Yes its supposed to be a shark. ;)
Log in and create your own. Then hop on our Facebook and share it with us! Ill post my favorites at the end of next week!
The Link to our build is www.buildwithchrome.com/build/EDzH
After we built this I looked up our address in Melbourne to see what the neighborhood looks like.
Not too Shabby!

Germans love David Hasselhof....and giant LEGO bridges!

Last year in October street artist Megx decided to take this old train line bridge in Wuppertal, Germany and Legofy it! Don't we think that life is always a little better with some bricks in it?
Sorry for the bad SNL Joke Title. I couldn't help myself. :)

The Hallway!

The Hallway is our default location for new products. Whats in the Hallway you ask???? Let's see.

Working Land Rover Defender 110.

Its Amazing what you can do with Lego's!
This isn’t LEGO, this is engineering work in 1:8.5 scape built from 3 kilograms of plastic, basically 2,800 parts, plus the 7 motors and 3 infra-red receivers involved. Some might say that playing with kid’s toys isn’t a good think, but the design is intricate that it bewilders us to no end, since the Land Rover 110 built by Sheepo even has a gearbox, a transfer case and brakes. It’s even got a fur-cylinder fake engine that moves with the drive electric motors. The lego masterpiece has opening doors, working suspension, folding bench seats in the back. Disc brakes have been included in all four wheels, and the gearbox has four gears plus reverse, engaged via auto clutch. Honestly, the only way to make this more complicated is by adding guns and a beverage compartment. The body even comes of the frame, so you could potentially add a body with a full cab or whatever else flips your boat. All those tricks you see the LEGO Land Rover Defender 110 are controlled via a remote control that, get this, is also made from LEGO.-AutoEvolution.com

ITTTSSSS SOOOOOOO FLUFFYYYY!!!!!

We love movies here at the Tutoring Toy. Especially Dex and I. Often we take some of our favorite movies and hide little jokes from them in the windows. Some of those jokes make it into every window scene we do. Next time your looking in our playmobil window see if you can find our favorite little BushMan! One character we loved putting into one of our past windows was Agnes from Despicable Me. She was featured in our Playmobil School House Window which is now on display in the Playmobil Section of our Store.

Dex likes to make us look bad.

Here's Dex's Version of our previous "How to Draw R2D2" Post!
I'm not so sure I believe him when he says he just followed the instructions!

Rainbow Room

Have you ever wondered what its like to see the world through the eyes of a rainbow???? Well you could with these great glasses! Otherwise you could buy a plane ticket to Denmark and vist this beautiful museum.

Learning Resources Color Mixing Glasses
$7.99

"A SPACE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES Olafur Eliasson describes the project in the following words:“Your rainbow panorama enters into a dialogue with the existing architecture and reinforces what is assured beforehand, that is to say the view of the city. I have created a space which virtually erases the boundaries between inside and outside – where people become a little uncertain as to whether they have stepped into a work or into part of the museum. This uncertainty is important to me, as it encourages people to think and sense beyond the limits within which they are accustomed to moving”.The realization of this unique rooftop project has been made possible through a partnership between ARoS, the Municipality of Aarhus and Realdania, in that Realdania are financing the establishment of Your rainbow panorama.Olafur Eliasson has created this permanent work of art in the form of a circular walkway 150 metres in extent and three metres wide made in glass in all the colours of the spectrum. The spectacular work of art has a diameter of 52 metres and is mounted on slender columns 3.5 metres above the roof surface of the museum. Visitors to the museum will have access to this great work of art via stairs and lifts. They can take a stroll such as will delight the senses round this circular pathway, which will provide them with panoramic views of the surrounding city and Ã…rhus Bay.Beneath the “floating” work of art, the actual roof area and its c. 1500 square metres has been covered with wood, so the surface constitutes a unique recreational area and viewing platform for visitors to the museum fifty metres above street level.Your rainbow panorama will be visible from a great distance, and as you will see different colours according to where you are in the city, the work acts as a compass. At night, Your rainbow panorama is lit up from inside by spotlights embedded in the floor."

Flying the Sanrio Skies

Love Hello Kitty?? This might be the flight for you.
"TAIPEI, TAIWAN (March, 2012) -- EVA Air will begin serving two more gateways with its Hello Kitty Jets on May 23, 2012. The airline will use two of its new character-themed Airbus 330-300s on its Taipei Songshan - Tokyo Haneda and Songshan – Shanghai Hongqiao routes. EVA is also hard at work with Sanrio to give two Airbus 330-200s colorful Hello Kitty Jet makeovers, which will give the airline five of the cheerfully painted second-generation aircraft and enable more passengers to enjoy Hello Kitty flights.
EVA launched the Magic Jet, Apple Jet and Global Jet late last year to enthusiastic response from passengers and fans worldwide. The first of the transformed A330-200s will be initiated on May 23 and the second on June 22, 2012. During the one-month interval, the airline will temporarily serve its Taipei Taoyuan/Tokyo Narita (BR2198/2197) and Taipei Taoyuan/Hong Kong (BR857/858) routes with aircraft clad in standard EVA livery.
On the new Hello Kitty Jet route between close-in Taipei Songshan and Tokyo Haneda, the themed aircraft will make two trips a day, flights BR192/BR191 and BR190/189. Hello Kitty Jet service from Songshan to close-in Shanghai Hongqiao, flights BR772/771, will offer 6 flights a week except Tuesday. With these additions, EVA’s Hello Kitty Jets will be operating from two Taipei airports, Taoyuan and Songshan, two Tokyo airports, Narita and Haneda, Fukuoka, Hokkaido, Shanghai’s Hongqiao, Guam, Seoul’s Incheon International Airport and Hong Kong."

Today is turning into a video kind of day. Just wandered across this and thought it was a great little story about someone who made a difference in his corner of the world. These are the kinds of things that should inspire us all to keep working twords our dreams.
"Brendon Grimshaw purchased the island for £8,000 in 1962 and set about making the island habitable. He did this with the help of one other man, Rene Antoine Lafortune…. Grimshaw and his friend planted sixteen-thousand trees, built 4.8 kilometers of nature paths, and brought and bred giant land tortoises, creating an island of incredible beauty now worth 34 million Euros. Apart from a wide variety of plant and bird life, the island is home to over 100 land tortoises…. After 20 years of persistence, Grimshaw and his assistant achieved their goal of making Moyenne Island a National Park in its own right, separate to that of the St. Anne marine park. Now known as the Moyenne Island National Park, it is the smallest national park in the world, harbouring more species per square foot than any other part of the world."

Next time youre in LA visit Caine's Arcade

We saw this video about a month ago and felt truly inspired. These are the kinds of things kids need to be doing more of. Thoughtful and Creative play. Growing up my brother and I spent many hours in the backyard building forts, castles, hideouts, and creatures from cardboard boxes. We took our  Playmobil figures and used them to guard these creations while we prepared for some sort of wild adventure that was about to ensue. Maybe a foam arrow war or some sort of obstacle/race event. I even remember building a landing pad for some old fashioned pillow case parachuting from the roof. DO NOT TRY THAT AT HOME!! It never ends well. There's a reason the cardboard box has been inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame. I hope this video inspires some kids to get out there and be creative and if anyone ever needs any cardboard boxes let me know i've got more than i ever know what to do with.
You can read the whole story about Caine at his website www.cainesarcade.com.
